RMIT Cricket Club

About Us

RMIT Cricket Club was born in 2002 and as you have done the math it is just 5 years old. The club was brain child of John Thangarajah, Ahmed Sheikh and Shaylene Doonan from RMIT Union. John Thangarajah and Ahmed Sheikh both played club cricket in Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively.

The RMIT Cricket Club is not just a university sports club but a community sports club that plays under the Mooney Valley District Cricket Association (MMVCA). We mostly play two-day games and over the last few years have also played as one day team. The Major sponsor for the club has been RMIT Union. The club has grown a lot over the last 5 years and matured from Grade C to Grade A, being the top team in Grade A in 2007 and winning Grade B and C at different times in the last 5 years. Please see the history of the club for more details.

The club is proud to have players like John Thangarajah, Ajay Kulkarni and Makarand Dhuri who represented MMVCA in year 2007. We have a number of quality players like Doug Nash who played for Victoria and Sachin Rabade who played county cricket in England.

Having the experience and guidance of such senior players the club has been doing well in the last few years. We are a young ,exciting and growing club with great character. We are allways on the lookout for players who enjoy cricket, No matter what your level of cricket is RMITCC is dedicated on providing a place to enjoy and improve your skills of the game. So if you want to play cricket see the contact page and send us an email.
