RMIT Cricket Club was founded in 2002. The club was the brainchild of John Thangarajah, Ahmed Sheikh and Shaylene Doonan from RMIT Union. John Thangarajah and Ahmed Sheikh both played club cricket in Sri Lanka and Pakistan respectively. The RMIT Cricket Club is not just a university sports club but a community sports club that is associated with the Moreland and Moonee Valley Cricket Association (MMVCA) and the Victorian Turf Cricket Association (VTCA). We play both one-day and two-day games. The Major sponsor for the club is the RMIT Union. The club has grown tremendously over the years moving up in grades and winning premierships. Please see the Club History for more details. The club has a number of quality players who have played at State levels here and overseas. The club is open to everyone, whether you are a student or employed, as long as you are passionate about Cricket, you have a place at the RMIT Cricket Club.
We are a young, exciting and growing club with great character. We are always on the lookout for players who enjoy cricket. No matter what your level of cricket is, RMITCC is dedicated on providing a place to enjoy and improve your skills of the game. So if you want to play cricket, send us an email from the contact page and we will be more than happy to welcome you to our club.
